Explosion and Fire at Gibraltar Port Tube. Duration : 3.60 Mins.


Incident at Gibraltar port. One of the waste fuel storage tanks explodes at the North Mole. Explosion was heard at approximately 15:30 hrs 31/5/11. The fire was extinguished at 05:00 hrs 1/6/11. A Spanish worker, aged 46, was carrying out welding duties on top of the neighbouring storage tank and suffered extensive burns. He subsequently died of his injuries on 3/8/11. An enquiry is to be held to determin the cause of the explosion.
